Doris Belland

Doris Belland is a real estate investor with eight years of real estate experience and twenty-one years of business experience. Through her own purchases, she has developed expertise in all aspects of real estate investing. After developing her own portfolio of buy-and-hold properties, Doris began focussing on helping renters become homeowners. Integrity, creativity and attention to detail have all been strong factors in Doris’s success.

Doris created Blue Ribbon Rent to Own in 2009 to provide a fair, transparent solution for families who cannot obtain a mortgage. She is committed to helping families, and particularly women, become financially secure and better protected against all of life’s challenges.

Doris has read and studied extensively in the field of real estate investing. She is a member and past President of the Ottawa Real Estate Investors’ Organization (OREIO) in addition to having been a member of the Real Estate Investment Network of Canada for several years.

In 2012, Doris reached out to Claude Pilon to join her team as Vice-President. Together they have improved all of the systems within the Blue Ribbon Rent to Own Program to provide even more value for clients and investors alike.

Doris lives in Ottawa with her husband Mark and their two young daughters. She is currently working on her first book entitled “If I Had Known”, a compilation of lessons learned as a widow and business woman in her early 30s. You can follow her blog at www.IfIHadKnownBook.com.

 

Claude Pilon

Claude is a Business Analyst with 30 plus years of financial and computer experience. In addition, he has a passion for Real Estate and a desire to help and teach others.

He purchased his first investment property, a single family home, in 1989 with several friends.  While this first investment property was a great learning experience, it was certainly not a money-making venture.

Claude continued to be very interested in Real Estate but always feared getting involved after his experience with his first investment. However, Claude joined the Ottawa Real Estate Investors’ Organization (OREIO) in 2005 and started actively reviewing and analysing deals.

In 2007, Claude started his Real Estate portfolio as an investor with the purchase of a multi unit building in a Joint Venture partnership. In 2008, he purchased a second multi unit property.

Claude then met Doris from Blue Ribbon at the Ottawa Real Estate Investors’ Organization (OREIO). The opportunity arose to do a Rent to Own deal and he was very interested. After asking a lot of questions, doing his due diligence and learning more about Doris’s honesty, integrity and her personal ethics, the deal was done. Claude went on to do several more deals with Blue Ribbon. Being on the investor side of the deals has allowed Claude to gain a wealth of knowledge.

In 2012 when Doris approached Claude and asked him to join her team, he was ecstatic. Since he had done several deals with Doris, he was very familiar with the Blue Ribbon Rent to Own Program. As the saying goes, he was so impressed with the company that he bought it! Claude is now Vice-President of Blue Ribbon and he is delighted to be able to help families in Ottawa get into their own homes.

Claude lives in Ottawa with his wife Lise and has four children and four grand children.
